(More customer reviews)This product was recommended by my Naturopathic doctor. She explained that in regular iron pills, the iron molecule is attached to some other molecule. For example Ferrous Sulfate or Ferrous Gluconate. The body has to split the iron from the other molecule and attach to a peptide in the body in order for the body to be able to absorb the iron. What happens many times is that once the iron part is split off, instead of finding a peptide to bind to, the iron binds to an oxygen molecule and becomes iron oxide (rust). This new molecule does not get absorbed and as a side effect in that it tends to have a paralytic affect on the intestines...think constipation. In contrast, the iron molecule in Iron Response (old name = Hematic Response) comes already bound to a peptide so it is easily absorbed by the intestines. And...this product is NOT constipating like the other iron supplements.
For women who are having heavy periods, this product is wonderful. I think many of us are not aware of how debilitating it is to have low iron levels. It makes every thing we do seem so difficult and exhausting. This pill has changed my life. My sister now also takes it and can't believe how much easier it is on those Fridays after work to get through the grocery store.
