It finally broke a couple of days ago - something in the cord is no longer making contact with something in the body of the iron. This is probably my fault as I hang it by its cord, but I think five years is a pretty good life for something I use so frequently.
This iron gets my hair so perfectly straight. I have your typical "mixed girl hair" and I went through years of chemical straighteners (relaxers and thermal reconditioning) and blow-outs. I now wear my hair chemical-free and this iron is why I can. My hair looks naturally straight, shiny and silky, and it almost never gets frizzy. I don't even use any styling products and I barely get split ends. Because of the material the iron is covered with, I can get really close to my skin without burning myself. It heats very evenly. In the past I had lower-quality flat irons and it took forever to get my hair not very straight. With this one, I can get it done in 30 minutes, regardless of my hair's length.
I wish I could say I was buying another, but due to the price, I am looking at a competing brand. If that one fails me, I will get another one of these.
