(More customer reviews)I discovered this brand of hairdryer at a spa. My hair is naturally frizzy at the ends, kinked near the scalp (but Caucasian hair), fine textured, fragile and dense. It's between my shoulders and shoulder blades and normally takes a very long time to dry, whether at home or at a salon. Beauticians lose patience with how long it takes to dry it, and sometimes two of them dry my hair at once to try to save time. My old dryer was a Conair 1875 watt Quiet dryer. It worked better and of course quieter than anything I had used before, and I had it for several years, but it was heavy and took a while and it felt like such a tiring, time-consuming task to dry my hair.
So imagine my surprise when at a spa, it took so much less time to dry my hair. I couldn't believe how soon I was finished, so I took note of the name 'Babyliss Pro Ceramix Xtreme' and looked it up online to find out where to buy it. It wasn't this pink version, it was black. Well, the only place I could find it was here on Amazon. After searching through all of the results here, I settled upon this pink one. The price was right, it was a pretty color, a portion of the purchase went toward breast cancer research and it came with a small flat iron.
Soon after I found it on here, my once trusty Hai 1 1/2" ceramic flat iron crapped came apart. I also had a Hai 2 1/2" ceramic flat iron, but it was clunkier and harder on the hands to use than I remembered. I was hoping that I'd like this new pink flat iron, but I think all it has going for it is the dual voltage. Okay, the price is low and it's good for short hair and bangs as well, but it takes so much longer to smooth my frizzes out than it did with my last iron. I have to turn up the heat setting all the way up in order for it to be effective, even though that's not recommended for fragile hair. I guess it's because of the thickness of it, not that I'm complaining about having relatively thick hair - I just want to smooth it out faster. I guess I'll have to invest in another one about 1 1/2" instead of the 1" size of this one, and save this one for travel since it's dual voltage.
The hairdryer, on the other hand, is superb. It's quieter than most salon dryers, but louder than my last dryer, I'd say about average for noise. Unlike other reviews, it did nothing for my frizz, so I had to use the flat iron afterward for that. It was lighter weight than my last dryer, so that was a plus. My arms don't get worn out now. Well, just today, I decided to time how long it took to dry my hair after washing it and towel-drying it for several minutes: I used a paddle brush throughout the drying process, and it only took FIVE MINUTES to dry it completely! I love it! (It used to take 20-30 minutes and my arm was tired from holding the old one.) Now, if I could just get another flat iron like the one I had that quickly smoothed my frizzes, then I'll be able to get presentable in no time!
