(More customer reviews)I had been using happy belly baby cereal since Gavin was 4 months old, but decided to switch it up and offer him some new grains. I chose this cereal because it includes barley in the mix, which I like alot. Gavin really likes the taste, eats it up just fine. It is a finer cereal than happy belly, and can get a little gelatinous, but Gavin doesn't seem to mind (he hates Gerber baby cereals, however). I like to add mashed fruit, canned pumpkin or spices (especially cinnamon and ginger) to the cereal to keep it interesting.

(More customer reviews)It really stinks that eating the healthiest foods costs the most but in my opinion, it's worth it. I love these cereals. The first case I bought from amazon was the original and I wound up eating it for breakfast, snacks, lunch, whenever, without milk or adding anything... I love the crunch and the taste. I actually ate the whole case in about 2 weeks and very little else... and it is amazing that I didn't gain weight, my bms were much better, and I had great energy and felt well- my body was craving it. Try that on Coco Puffs, Cornflakes, and even any of the other "healthy" cereals in the healthfood stores!
I actually make my own sprouted grain breads and crackers which I could easily break up to make this type of cereal- there is nothing in the world like it, but it takes 2 days of sprouting and a couple of hours to complete the food processing and spreading on the baking sheet process, and then 3-4 hours of low-heat baking. So when I don't have time to do this, a very close second are the Ezekiel products (their bread, english muffins, cereals, and pastas).
Anyone who makes health their top priority will eat very little of non-sprouted grain products (flour products). For those interested, Amazon sells a book called the Essene Gospel of Peace which contains writings found in the Vatican archives- in this little book, Jesus teaches his followers how to make bread, and it has nothing to do with taking the dry grain and grinding it up into flour and using yeast- he teaches them to soak the grain, let the sun bring it to life, grind it up alive, and then let the sun bake it. That makes the only truly living, healthful breads and cereals.
Yes, these products will feel and taste different than most are used to, but the more one eats this type of real food, the more the body starts remembering and then one begins to really enjoy the taste and textures because they equate to life and health. :)

He is very regular; I think it is because of Happy Bellies cereal. Thank you Happy Baby for another great product! PS - The old cereal containers made great toys! (More customer reviews)I am a new mom, and have heard amazing things about HappyBaby's Oatmeal. So, when I got on Amazon to purchase some I was surprised/concerned to see some of the negative reviews about off-coloring and bad smells. I wrote to the company to inquire about the issues people were mentioning, and I got a very good response, almost immediately, from the company. The Director of QA said that the problem was limited to one batch of oatmeal only and is no longer a problem. I thought other parents shopping on Amazon might find his response helpful:
"...this is not a food safety issue, so there's no need to worry. It is, however, an "off product" quality issue, and is caused by oxidation of the oils in the grain (oxidative rancidity), usually by the nitrogen flush we put into the can leaking out due to abuse, improper seaming, etc. The reaction (with oxygen) is a lot like leaving a peeled banana on the table too long...yucky, but not dangerous, so your child is not in any danger. The black flecks are oxidized pieces of the cereal bran, which are usually colourless.

Our June production lot was particularly susceptible to this, so we did two things. First, we strengthened the antioxidant portion of the formula (mixed tocopherols), and the problem literally went away. Secondly, we reached out to our warehouses and store shelves, and replaced as much of the June production lot as we could. However, given the size and complexity of the supply chain, it's nearly impossible to get a 100% catch here, so invariably, some cases stayed around. "
This response really impressed me and made me feel much more confident about purchasing HappyBaby products in the future. They acted quickly, and responded thoroughly and honestly to the issue.
