It's ionic, it doesn't use those boar bristles, the vents are at the base of the brush to avoid "sucking hair" into the intake, the bristles retract, and it pumps out a lot of heat. My last one was damaged by the baggage handlers at the airport so I've just purchased my second one. I would highly recommend this brush.

(More customer reviews)I have very curly hair. I was looking for a curling iron with tangle free, ceramic combs to replace the one I have which has been discontinued. I decided to try this product and was pleased with the results. It does hold the hair in place while drying so this eliminates blow drying then curling. The release button works great for tangle free. If there is anything I would like to change perhaps I would like for the temperature to get a little hotter. My hair is thick and course so I have to hold in position for a long time to dry and control the curl. But I would recommend this product to anyone looking for curl control as well as a styling tool. It is light weight and easy to handle. Good quality

(More customer reviews)I selected this product because of a recommendation in a magazine to which I subscribe.
First, I admit I should have paid more attention to the person here in Amazon who complained that the product was too loud. That person is right. On the HIGH setting, the product is very loud and shrill. To avoid harm to my ears, I always use the lower setting.
Secondly, it's big and heavy. I have to use two hands to hold the wand and dry my long hair.
I only find one of the attachments useful. There are two other attachments, but I never switch to either of them.
On a more positive note, it does dry my hair quickly. Also, if I use it like I would a curling iron, (i.e., roll a strand of hair around the brush and hold it there for a few seconds, then unroll it), it gives my hair a gentle curl and nice body.
Bottom line, I find myself going back to my old blow-dryer-and-separate-round-brush method about 50% of the time. If I had to do it over again, I don't think I'd buy this product.

(More customer reviews)This is a great tool and I love using it. However, it does not last very long (about a year) and you have to buy a new one. The barrel with the brushes starts spinning around. It is not suppose to do that. Also, I have had some problems with over heating. Seems that when you use it and then shut it off you cannot turn it back on right away. You have to wait for it to cool off. I really wish they would fix these two problems. I like the tool otherwise.

With these 'Salon Edition' hot air brushes (which are very hard to find) I blow my hair roots with the hair dryer until my hair is just alittle damp and then use the hot air brush to give it body. This is very cheap looking, but it is cheap so how can i complain. I don't even know if I can call the material it is made out of plastic.
It doesn't heat up past luke warm. I like my curling iron to get so hot I can't touch it, this one is so warm I can just leave my finger on it without getting burned.
I'm pretty sure if I got any hotter than it already does the material it is made of would melt.
The barrel itself is very short. It's like a travel/mini iron.
At it's best this is just a brush with a cord on it.
I gave it two stars because "you get what you pay for"
Maybe this is why I am the only one to give this product a review everybody else knew better.

(More customer reviews)This is the same exact hot air brush that my stylist uses at a salon, and they are sold there for a lot higher price. I have heavy shoulder-length stick-straight hair, and I get good results. Not "curls" mind you, but good wave and volume! On the downside....I'm on my third one of these - my fist one burnt out after about 3 months, my second one had the brush collapse inside of the barrel for some reason, so I'd say they don't last very long.

(More customer reviews)My sister and I LOVE this. We both have fine, thin, straight, shoulder length hair and it works great for us, It does not tangle my hair. It gives it a nice smooth finish. It adds volume and body. It makes "curves" not curls.If I wanted a distinct curl I would use a curling iron. This is the closest result I can get to a stylist blow drying my hair with a brush. Besides, it's great for travel because you only have to pack one thing as opposed to hair dryer and curling iron. It is cool to the touch and can be immediately put away.

(More customer reviews)I stick with something when it works, and this styling wand does that. My hair's kinda funny--it has a mind of its own, but it cooperates nicely with Vidal. I found the prior model of this hot air brush almost a decade ago and have been using them ever since.
I used the brush while my hair was short, and I use it still now that it's long. My hair is rather coarse and is a mix of curly and straight with lots of cowlicks. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair, the brush must be doing something right! It's good for smoothing down the frizzies and getting all the ends going in the right direction after a shampoo, and it's good for touch-ups in between. And is so much easier than hot curlers or the blow-dryer/roll brush combination method.
Usually I allow my hair to air dry until it's just damp and then finish it with the hot air brush, but in a hurry, I blow it nearly dry and then use the brush. With just a trace of dampness, my hair responds beautifully--it just gives up and behaves itself like an obedient child. If I could I'd post a before-and-after picture here to show the marked difference this styler makes.
The last time I walked into the beauty salon for a trim, my hairdresser looked up and exclaimed, "My god, look at you! You're beautiful--your hair is just glorious!" I had washed and styled it just before my appointment.
When my local merchant stopped selling Vidal Sasson's Tangle-Free Hot Air Brush, I panicked and bought four more from Amazon just to have on hand in case the product was discontinued!
I keep one in my suitcase, on in our camper and one in each bathroom. Can't recommend it highly enough!
