(More customer reviews)For me, the biggest challenge with hot rollers has been with the clips. I have very fine, very straight hair which does not like to bend around a roller; and then I need a good long clip to hold the hair in place. Those little bent-wire things that come with most sets don't cut it.
These rollers come with fitted, snap-on "clips" which will cage your hair right up against the roller so it doesn't just fall out. The velvety surface also makes rolling easier.
Two minor drawbacks: 1) when the rollers are off the pegs, the entire surface is burning hot; very dangerous if you are clumsy or have kids around and 2) probably for safety reasons due to #1, these rollers do not get as hot as some competitors'. Kind of important if you have curl-resistant hair.
Still a fantastic value - I paid less than $19 at a certain big-box discount store.

(More customer reviews)I have had Hot Sticks for over 20 years, and it still works. It was great when I had long hair, and still when it's shorter (shoulder length). You can change the size of curl by the amount of hair you use on each one and how long you leave it in, and change the type of curl by the way your wrap the hair. The ends get hot when you're wrapping, but I started using it when I was 12 with waist-length hair, so it can't be that bad.

(More customer reviews)If I had rated this iron right when I got it, it would have been a 5 star - it gets super hot (which I need with curly, thick hair) and gets hot FAST. It's also silky smooth and really glides through your hair - love the cord feature which allows for ease-of-movement. The downside is that since I've had it (1-2 months) the purple coating is totally coming off...and I'd suspect in another few months it will be really bad. I'm not sure if this is do to the product that I wear on my hair - might be - but I can't give it 5 stars when the coating started coming off immediately. Also, the iron doesn't have auto-shut off. Granted, it didn't advertise that it did, but I haven't purchased an iron in the past several years that DIDN'T have this feature so I took for granted that it did. If the coating wasn't coming off and it had auto-shut off, it'd be the best iron ever! That being said, I love the iron so much that I would buy another one when the coating comes off - for the money, it's the best iron I've ever had and I've had many!
